Anti-Coagulation Complications

By Marilyn Aschoff Mellor, M.D.

I am shaky
from lack of sleep
and worry about my patient
oozing blood into her brain
at the end of last night’s shift.

Goldilocks
wandering in medical circles:
blood too thick at first,
followed by too thin,
the right consistency
as hard to find
as a decent bowl of porridge.

Are you still
alive this snowy morning
or is the middle bed empty
after all?
